Stratum Med’s Inaugural Independent Medical Group Summit
The idea for the Independent Medical Group Summit came as several Stratum Board Members noted that larger medical conferences were increasingly out-of-step with the unique needs of independent, multi-specialty medical groups. “Why don’t we form a summit that addresses the issues that our groups face?” So, with just a year to plan, Stratum Med answered, hosting the inaugural IMG Summit on April 25-26th in Dallas, TX.
Held at the newly renovated Ritz Carlton Dallas, Las Colinas Resort in Irving, TX, the 2024 Stratum Med Independent Medical Group Summit was a wonderful success. Seventy-five administrators and physician leaders from sixteen physician-owned groups from around the country gathered to think-share on the issues unique to their groups’ place in the industry. Based on feedback from our steering committee and various group leaders, we wanted to provide a format that balanced expert-led discussion with open forum collaboration. We knew that the Summit’s main value would come from fostering collaboration where these successful and creative medical group leaders could share their challenges, successes, and solutions. From breakfast on Day 1 to the closing panel discussion on Day 2, attendees networked and collaborated with leaders of groups just like theirs. Said one attendee, “The conversations and networking at this event were invaluable and absolutely worth the time. Everyone definitely has varying concerns relating to the same types of issues.”
Stratum Med President and CEO Trent Kramer welcomed attendees to their Summit and shared the enthusiasm that Stratum and our Board Members have felt with this exciting opportunity to finally collaborate face-to-face. We were honored to have Dr. Craig Sammit kick off the Summit as our keynote speaker. Dr. Sammit is a nationally recognized expert and thought leader on industry transformation, care delivery, and healthcare policy. His experience and perspective sparked an exciting tone for the next two days. After the opening session, attendees then sat in on two days of sessions that covered a myriad of topics tailored to their interests, like staff compensation, physician retention, payer strategies, and industry best practices. One particularly exciting session was Dr. Drew Lundquist’s presentation on AI innovation and its application in the clinical setting. Dr. Lundquist spoke to a full house as physician leaders learned and discussed the potential benefits and challenges of this new technology.
Beyond the formal sessions, attendees had ample time to network and unwind at the Summit’s many social opportunities. Meals and breaks were buzzing with lively discussion. On Thursday evening, Stratum hosted a cocktail hour before breaking off to four smaller dinner parties, off-site. These dinners provided the perfect opportunity to build strong professional relationships, unwind together, and forge new friendships.
We at Stratum Med were so pleased with this event. Feedback was positive and all attendees shared their enthusiasm for both this event, and future Summits. We would like to thank our Board Members, members of the steering committee, each attendee, and the lovely staff at The Ritz Carlton Dallas, Las Colinas Resort for making this incredible event the success that it was. See you next year!
