Carle Health’s Annual Turkey Toss Event
The mood is happy around Carle at the Fields today as employees ask each other excitedly, “did you get your turkey?”
For over 30 years, Carle Health has had a tradition of expressing thanks to team members during the organization’s annual Turkey Toss appreciation event, when leaders and volunteers hand out turkeys, hams or fruit basket just in time for Thanksgiving. This popular event gives employees reason to smile, spreading goodwill across the Carle system. There is a buzz in the air each Turkey Toss!
“Turkey Toss brings us together as a team and allows us to celebrate the spirit of being thankful and grateful,” Lauren Schmid, executive vice president and chief Human Resources officer, said. “We have an incredible team that does incredible work. Saying thank you in this way has been a longstanding Carle Health tradition.”
Team members also have the option to “toss it back,” donating their items to local hunger relief organizations. This is one way that Carle Health supports the health and well-being of our community members.
In the Champaign-Urbana Service Area alone, more than 2,150 items were donated to the Eastern Illinois Foodbank. “We’re grateful for the continued support and look forward to distributing some of the donations on the Foodmobile sponsored by Carle Health on Nov. 26,” said Sophie Becker, Eastern Illinois Foodbank marketing and communications manager.
What a great way for Carle Health to spread cheer and thank employees every holiday season!
